The climate of this region is perfectly adapted to growing cotton, which needs 700 mm of water and a minimum of 120 days of sunlight followed by a dry period so that the cotton fiber does not rot. Burkina Faso is the number 1 producer of cotton in Africa. The industry employs 3 million people of which 2 million farmers and represents 25 % of the GDP and 60% of the country’s exports.
According to the United Nations:
- 17,000 fewer children die each day than in 1990.
- However, more than five million children still die before their fifth birthday each year.

It is the biggest NGO floating hospital serving at Palu after the earthquake and tsunami in 2018.
