Pol Robert Tansens obtained a Master in Applied Economics at the University of Antwerp (Belgium) in 1985 and gained a second Master in Commercial Engineering with his thesis ‘Profitability of thermal insulation in detached houses’ at the same university in 1986.
 
He started his career as an economist at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations with positions held in Niger and Rome. He was subsequently employed by the Belgian Overseas Development Administration as a project manager/lecturer in Rwanda and Suriname.
 
Tansens joined Fortis Bank Belgium in Brussels in 1998. He was a senior equity analyst ‘Real Estate’ at Global Markets and was the Head of Strategy and Property Research of Fortis Private Real Estate (Private Banking) from 2004 till end 2009.
 
Tansens has been the Head of Real Estate Investment Strategy of BNP Paribas Wealth Management since early 2010, providing services to key clients with a substantial net worth.
 
Tansens is a visiting lecturer at the real estate programs of the Solvay Business School (Brussels), the Antwerp Management School (Antwerp) and the University of Luxembourg. He has published a wide range of research reports in the field of real estate. He is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors RICS, and has joined its Continental Europe Education Standards Board (CESB) since 1 June 2016. The CESB’s role is to set the standards for accredited real estate courses and membership assessment processes.
 
He is member of the Investment Committee of ImmoFinRe, a Luxembourg-based real estate private equity fund, invested in emerging markets.
