MIMMA: “You know, Julia, I invest in real estate, mainly because I like the idea of passing down something tangible to Emma.
I don’t know if you remember, but I bought an office building fifteen years ago in France thanks to my private banker’s advice. Now the mortgage is paid off and the rent provides me with a regular income: ideal when you’re retired! Something for you and Simon to think about.
Even better, I don't have to worry about managing the building. The specialists at BNP Paribas Real Estate do that for me.
JULIA: Are you looking to buy some other properties?
MIMMA: Well, you know, I would like to invest in more real estate, primarily to diversify, but I am looking for a more moderate investment this time. My private banker proposed two options: invest in listed real estate funds, or unlisted ones. Both of them offer prospects not only for inflation protection but also for long-term income.
I’ll admit that I didn’t want to be too dependent on day-to-day market fluctuations. In the end, I chose an unlisted real estate fund that invests in office buildings, warehouses and commercial premises, in several European countries. The fund can use the investments to purchase real estate assets for renovation, sometimes they are restructured, and then rented and sold!”
JULIA: “Well, Mimma, looks like you found an investment that ticks all the boxes: tangible assets, diversification, with high yield and protection against inflation! Well done. Simon and I need to go back to our Private Banker.”
