Raising philanthropy awareness
BNP Paribas Wealth Management is committed to raising awareness and promoting dialogue about philanthropy. From university partnerships to global studies and celebrations, we strive to bring philanthropy to the fore.
To better understand what motivates philanthropists, BNP Paribas Wealth Management carries out and sponsors research on this topic. Since 2008, two annual BNP Paribas Prizes for Individual Philanthropy have been awarded to extraordinary philanthropists.
The BNP Paribas Philanthropy Index is an innovative study, developed in partnership with Forbes, that measures the commitments of philanthropists from Europe, Asia, the USA and the Middle East using three principle criteria: the donation amount, innovation and promotion.
BNP Paribas Wealth Management has been a strategic partner of the ESSEC Business School Philanthropy Chair (Cergy Pontoise - France) since its inception in 2011. Philanthropy plays an increasing role in addressing social challenges. With its capacity for innovation, philanthropy fosters experimentation and forges new models for public-interest projects in areas such as health, education, culture and the environment.
The Chair promotes the understanding of major charitable themes across three activities: academic research, applied research and education. It aims to strengthen the entrepreneurial and managerial competencies of the sector’s key players as well as their social impact by focusing on the challenges surrounding the creation, strategy and management of philanthropic initiatives. Its' objectives include:
Furthering theoretical and applied research on philanthropy while meeting standards of academic excellence;
Developing academic research networks and best practices in philanthropy;
Promoting and understanding the role of philanthropy in Europe and how it is practiced by individuals and private organizations;
Addressing key players in the philanthropic sector to strengthen their capabilities in analysis, management and governance.
BNP Paribas Wealth Management regularly commissions and supports qualitative studies on philanthropy which are designed to better understand the determining factors behind European philanthropists’ actions, and to offer insights into their behavior and motivations.
