The United Nations Sustainable Goal 11:
Make Cities Inclusive, Safe, Resilient and Sustainable.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) consist of 17 key commitments that strive to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all by 2030.
Yann Arthus Bertrand has chosen this photo to represent the challenges of meeting the United Nations SDG 11.

Despite Copenhagen’s climate, its citizens use bicycles to go to work and to run errands. In the city, there are 265,700 bicycles vs. 252,600 cars in 2015. Cycling infrastructures are much cheaper than roads or subways and are a source of physical activity with corresponding positive effect on public health.

According to the United Nations:
Half of humanity – 3.5 billion people – are urban dwellers and that figure rises to 5 billion people by 2030.
Rapid urbanization strains the environment, water supplies, sanitation facilities and the public health.

Our commitment to achieving SDG 11:

The rebuilding of Notre Dame:
The architectural and cultural heritage of a city is essential for urban quality of life and BNP Paribas contributes to protecting this heritage where it operates. Following the disastrous fire that struck Notre Dame Cathedral this year, BNP Paribas and its employees have committed to enable its reconstruction. BNP Paribas has pledged €20 million and matches employee contributions and donations from its French retail banking clients. In addition, BNP Paribas will be putting in place a specific mechanism, together with the BNP Paribas Foundation, under the aegis of the Fondation de France, that will enable employees and French retail banking clients to contribute in a personal capacity to the rebuilding effort.
