Our Private Bank in Morocco Is Going Green!

On the occasion of the COP22 (Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) Conference in Marrakesh, BMCI launched a new variable rate Certificate of Deposit linked to the Ethical Europe Climate Care Index.

The 22nd Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), otherwise known as the COP22, is currently taking place in Marrakesh, Morocco (from 7 to 18 November). This conference represents one of the most important diplomatic events organised in Morocco.

Reflecting its and the BNP Paribas Group values, BMCI BNP Paribas Banque Privée (Private Bank) created a variable rate Certificate of Deposit linked to the Ethical Europe Climate Care Index.  This solution allows clients to target and invest in European companies that make important strides in reducing their CO2 emissions.  This solution also permits direct foreign investment denominated in Moroccan Dirham (MAD) with a capital guarantee at the end of the product’s tenor.

The link to the Ethical Europe Climate Care Index (which is a new index) capitalises on the index's tracking of companies that enact strategies transiting to renewable energy and limiting their carbon footprint--while at the same time complying with strict Environmental, Social, and Governance issues (ESG).

BNP Paribas Wealth Management has seen great interest in this type of ethical solution in other parts of Wealth Management--noably in Belgium, where BNP Paribas Fortis Wealth Management has become a leader in Socially Responsible Investing solutions for its clients.
